About the Artisans

Lovelight Handmade began in 2019 when Mike, searching for a meaningful way to make a living, considered the gap between the tactile traditions surrounding candlelight and the reality of today’s overcrowded and underregulated candle market. His love for craft and experience in furniture production propelled him to create his own candles. 

Olivia's background in both sustainability and pottery drove Lovelight's early shift from glass candle jars to hand-built, reusable ceramic vessels. Together, Mike and Olivia began producing the ceramics in makeshift studios, driving long distances to kiln-fire pieces, and pouring the candles in their kitchen, between working full time jobs. 

In May 2023, Lovelight opened its doors in Bradley Beach, just a few blocks from the ocean where Olivia and Mike surf and draw inspiration for their work. 

Lovelight’s half-glazed candle holders are sleek yet sturdy and earthy, emulating colors and textural moments found in nature. They are designed to be replenished and enjoyed for life. The refills are crafted from a mix of coconut, soy, and beeswax swirled with certified non-toxic, plant-based fragrance oils, ensuring an aromatic but pure burn.
