Every Spark Starts Somewhere — Started with a Dream
A dreamy, literary-inspired design that celebrates the idea that every big idea starts small — a fitting sentiment for a box built to light candles, kindle ideas, and set a room aglow. Each box holds roughly 125 extra-long matchsticks, cut thicker than standard for a cleaner strike, and is fully plastic-free and recyclable — designed, printed, and made in the UK.
Artisan: The Matchbox Maker was founded in 2025 by friends Michelle Harle and Katie Crosbie Dawson, who met at the races and discovered they were both ready for a new creative chapter. Pairing Katie's background in the gift industry with Michelle's eye for bespoke luxury goods, the two set out to reimagine an everyday object as something worth keeping — as they put it, starting with "a tiny spark from which we hope great flames will grow." Every box is designed, printed, and made in the UK, fully plastic-free and recyclable.
